Abstract

The study’s objective was to analyze the actors’ attitudes in the educational process to verify their impact on the school success of Hispanic migrant students in Mathematics and English since frequent migration and their limited understanding of the language places them at high school risk. The research with a mixed approach was based on a social-constructivist theoretical conceptual framework; with a non-experimental, transversal, and correlational-causal design; with a random probability sample. The results showed a lack of integration between some of the actors in the educational process promoted not by prejudiced attitudes, but rather by an indifference to work together. The conclusions obtained may contribute to the transformation of teaching practice by adopting strategies that improve the academic process in Mathematics and English aimed at this minority but emphasizing the involvement of their families and local communities. Based on the conclusions, the integration of a committee at the district level is recommended to outline a teaching-learning binomial model with activities that transform bad attitudes, through a disposition and empathy that encourages the customary practice of good attitudes and heals the educational environment in which they interact.

Es maestro de matemáticas en los cursos de Preálgebra, Álgebra I, Álgebra II, Geometría analítica, Precálculo, Cálculo diferencial e integral, Estadística y Matemáticas financieras en el nivel de secundaria, preparatoria y colegio en el distrito escolar de Donna, Texas. Estratega para el diseño y actualización curricular de diversos cursos. De 1979 al 2000 se desempeñó en el ámbito militar en comisiones diversas en la Armada de México, en el Estado Mayor, área de Inteligencia Naval, y como profesor militar en la Escuela Naval Militar (nivel universitario).

Cuenta con más de 35 años de experiencia en el campo de la educación, dedicados a ayudar a estudiantes, profesores y administradores, tanto en instituciones públicas como privadas en niveles de licenciatura y posgrado. Posee un BA en Educación en Historia, MA en Currículo en Matemáticas, MBA en Gerencia de proyectos, y PhD en Currículo e instrucción. Tiene conocimientos en métodos de enseñanza y aprendizaje en línea, para la enseñanza de las matemáticas, entre otros temas.
