Evaluation and arbitration process

When a proposal is submitted to the journal, the evaluation process consists of two stages:

Stage 1. It begins with the general review by the Editorial Committee to verify that the proposal meets the basic requirements established: thematic focus, extension, adherence to the citation rules, structure, format, documentation, among others. Subsequently, the work goes to a first reading by a member of the Committee, who determines the relevance of the proposal and decides if it meets the academic quality requirements to go to the peer evaluation stage. This phase takes place in a maximum time of 30 days.

Stage II. The proposals that pass to this stage are submitted to the peer review process through the double-blind procedure, in charge of two anonymous referees specialized in the subject and belonging to educational institutions at the national and international level, which Seeks guarantees the quality of the reviews. Only if the verdict of the judges is contradictory, a third arbitrator is used to make the final decision, which may be: approved, approved with modifications, or rejected. This process takes up to two months.

The evaluation process in the two stages takes place in an average time of 3 months and takes into account the criteria of originality, the relevance of the findings, management of specialized theory, methodological rigor, consistency, argumentative clarity and quality of the drafting.

When the results of the evaluation process are disclosed to the authors, in approving cases they must abide by the observations made by the Editorial Committee and by the arbitrators. They will have a period of up to 20 calendar days to make the adjustments and submit the new version of the work, explicitly indicating the modifications made and / or presenting arguments on those that could not be addressed.

The Editorial Committee reserves the last saying on the publication of the proposals and the volume in which they will be included. Based on this, the authors will be informed of the date on which it will be published. During this process, minor style corrections may be made that the journal considers pertinent.

  4. The Editorial Committee of the journal will acknowledge receipt of all material submitted for publication, as well as the correspondence sent in each part of the editorial process.

Allegations of malpractice

Malpractices can be identified by members of the Editorial Committee, International Editorial Council, authors, judges, or readers, in which case the accusations will be attended as long as they are substantiated and evidence is granted. To initiate attention to these cases –and as far as possible–, the flow diagrams proposed by COPE will be taken as support and reference, adapting them to the structure of the journal.

Some examples of bad practices in authorship can be plagiarism, self-plagiarism, the previous publication of the same material, falsification of data, and research results, among others.

The first respondent will be the Editorial Director of the journal, who in the first instance will contact the indicated author to inform the specific case and request a response to the allegation, without revealing the name of the person who did it. In case of not receiving a satisfactory answer, an investigation will proceed.

The case will be shared with the members of the Editorial Committee, who will collegially make a decision based on the evidence provided and the severity of the case, which may result in the article being annulled from the review or editing process, or the article being deleted. if it were published on the journal page.

When the offense is serious and involves a violation of the law, the case will be referred to the competent authorities to follow up on the case according to the applicable regulations.

If deemed necessary or useful for the scientific community, the universities or research centers of the researched author, as well as the corresponding government agencies (Conacyt, in the case of Mexico) could be involved in the case.

To prevent and deal with cases of malpractice early, the use of a digital plagiarism detection system has been implemented, in which all articles are submitted before being accepted for evaluation, where the level of similarity with other texts is identified. , in addition to the fact that the cited information is correctly attributed to the original authorship.
