Abstract

The rapid development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) has opened new possibilities for teaching and assessment practices in higher education. This quantitative study, with a quasi-experimental design, examines the reliability of the Spanish version of a scale for evaluating the acceptance of Computer-Based Assessment (CBA) among university students. To conduct the research, descriptive analysis tools, such as Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, were used to evaluate the reliability of the Computer-Based Assessment Acceptance Model (CBAAM) in a private University in Mexico. The research was divided into two phases: 1) application of an assessment with automatically graded short-answer questions, and 2) analysis of the reliability of the final version of the CBAAM with 84 first-semester engineering students. The CBAAM showed a high and statistically significant internal consistency coefficient (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.9190). The internal consistency coefficients of the subscales ranged from 0.6838 to 0.9325, suggesting that the scale is reliable for use in this context. It is recommended to apply the CBAAM in other contexts for further confirmation.
