Abstract
This research is focused on teachers of elementary education, public, federal and state schools of the two leading municipalities of the state of Chihuahua. The purpose was to inquire about the processes of construction of their professional identity in the context of the previous curricular reform. The study was developed from an ethnographic perspective in which we worked from observation records and in-depth interviews. Elements associated with the role of the salaried worker or identification with the vocational call were identified, both levels of the professional being in coexistence. Positions and attitudes related to a reduced professional commitment were also identified, as well as other attitudes, positions, and behaviors associated with an identity of responsibility, commitment and professional dedication.
