Abstract

This investigation focuses on the application of an intervention project in a group of 15 boys and girls who attended the sixth grade of elementary education in the municipality of Saucillo, Chihuahua, Mexico, with the objective of promoting a healthy coexistence among them through play. The theoretical-methodological approach is based on the transformative critical paradigm; the approach is qualitative and uses the action research method. The techniques used were an observation script, a field diary for the records and interviews with the participants. The intervention project consisted of eight actions and twenty-nine strategies which helped students improve their interaction inside the classroom through interactive games, seeking as a result the development of a healthy and peaceful relationship that allows them to progress in a beneficial environment. It is concluded that is essential for adults to modify their conception of the importance of play as a learning strategy, since they consider it a waste of time; also, the actions met the needs of the group because most of them were proposed by the students, so they turned out to be more meaningful and interesting for them. Furthermore, the actions improved the student’s interactions, thus expressing a better coexistence.
