Abstract

This research exposes the results obtained through an Institutional Project to follow graduates of the Institución Benemérita y Centenaria Escuela Normal del Estado de Chihuahua -IBYCENECH-. It is investigated in relation to a peculiar aspect that is not taken into account in these studies, which refers to the physical, psychological and emotional health of the teachers, the burnout. This condition is a disease response to chronic work stress (Gil-Monte, 2015). The main objective is to identify and compare the burnout level of two generations of graduates -2015 and 2016-  of the Licenciatura en Educación Primaria. The study is mixed, quantitative data are obtained through the Cuestionario de burnout (Wilson, 1999) applied to a sample of 29.5% and through a focus group of 11 participants, recover the manifestations that expose in relation to the syndrome. The main results are that 48% do not have the syndrome, 30% are at low levels of burnout, while 15% in medium or moderate and 7% in high levels. Also, teachers expose some symptoms of physical and emotional exhaustion, but with idealism in their profession. In conclusion, subsequent studies are proposed to evaluate, prevent and give attention to the syndrome from the university institution, as and from the workplace.
