Abstract
This paper describes the previously identified background and its evolution to lay the foundation for a research project in development. It begins with the concept of a book as a resource of excellence in the classroom, addressing its beginnings, development through time, its introduction to our country, and the authors who contributed to its usage in the teaching-learning process, calling it then the book. Introducing the textbook in the area of probability, the years and situations in which they were first studied, usually by mathematicians who shared their theories leaving precedents which would facilitate the comprehension of such topics.
