Abstract

The training of basic education teachers in teacher colleges requires an academically oriented management since administration as a traditional activity is no longer working; the substantive areas must be instrumented and work together to promote a new institutional culture centered on the academy. There are no mechanisms for electing directors, rather they are imposed, which brings along intentions to take care of the position rather than improving schools; however, it is urgent to rethink the managerial role whose purpose involves rethinking a new vision of management to the academic sphere. Teacher colleges need the leadership of managers who excel in improving relationships through collaborative work, both teachers and administrators, to turn schools into learning communities to propose action plans that promote sustained improvement and academia focused work environments as the essence of management.
