Abstract

Nowadays the evaluation of the quality of education is of great politic, social and economic interest. (Gonzalez, Ramirez, 2000). However it hasn’t stopped being by itself an useful tool but it doesn’t improve the reality it evaluates, despite its ability to collect rigorous and detailed data to know the reality and act accordingly. (Tiana, 2007). This research contains the perception the professors have on the accreditation process. Through a mixed method design the preliminary results of the quantitative phase are presented. Data from 30 professors from 3 universities was obtained, predominantly female 80% (24) and 20% (6) male. An average age of 42+ 10 years, and 14+ 9 years working. The opinion of 50% of the professors is doubt about the legitimacy of the evaluation which makes us think there’s not always strict adherence to the normative and ethical principles.  There’s also doubt about the viability, there’s no way to make sure the evaluations are realistic, prudent and financially adequate. Despite professors optimistic score on the accuracy and usefulness of the evaluation, the information analyzed it’s not always correct, its validity and trust is questionable. And finally it’s hard to know if the process managed to stablish a harmonious bond, respectful and avoiding criticism and resistance.
