Abstract
The purpose of the present work is to share the results of a research conducted at the University of Guadalajara, to identify trends of high school students in the search, selection, recovery, use and transmission of information, taking as sample 462 students, from a total of 698 students next to graduate during the calendar 2015 / B, figure corresponding to 66.18% and whose distribution is as follows: 248 high school students of Jalisco, out of a total of 356, equivalent to 69.66% and 214 of the Preparatory No. 11, out of a total of 342, equivalent to 62.57%. Likewise, the methodology and the evaluation instrument used are described, establishing as main points of interest, evidence of the use of the internet as the primary source of information among the students, as well as the preferences of the search engines used, predominance of the websites that they consult, perception about the reliability of the pages they select, criteria used to evaluate the information, strategies for searching information on the web, academic plagiarism, habits to transmit information, among other items. Emphasizing that the results obtained have been considered as areas of opportunity, which will serve to reorient teaching-learning strategies, to increase the development of skills to manage and manage the information of our schools to achieve an ideal graduation profile.
