Abstract

A methodological report of a research related to the study of social vulnerability and its influence on the educational context and practice of basic education schools is presented. The report is located as a methodological innovation because unusual tools are used in the field of educational research, such as socio-spatial analysis to delimit and characterize geographic spaces, exploratory journeys to contextualize the study community and the techniques of visual ethnography to detonate the interaction and dialogue from an image. In the study, a multi-method approach is also used, since the approach to social reality is done through different perspectives of researchers, where approaches such as grounded theory, case studies and phenomenology converge. The experience obtained showed the richness and complementarity that can exist when introducing instruments and techniques from other areas of knowledge in the study of school practices and their interaction with the context.
