Abstract

The present study is a description and interpretation of the contextual and family elements of children and how they influence their initial literacy processes. The research was conducted in a primary school in the city of Saucillo, Chihuahua, with a group of first-grade students, carried out during a school year. The study is theoretically based on authors who have studied the subject, such as Ferreiro and Teberosky (1979), Ferreiro and Gómez Palacio (1998), Goodman (2003) and Díaz Barriga (1998). The findings are focused on recognizing, analyzing and interpreting the factors that favor or hinder literacy processes, recognizing that children develop in different environments, literate or not, which defines the lower or greater possibility of accessing a literate world.
