Abstract

The following paper explores teaching practices that incorporate tasks and knowledge from the Raramuri culture in the school life of a trilingual middle school in Basihuare, Chihuahua. The experiences emerge from the stories of the founding professors- three indigenous and a mestizo-. Some of the practices detected in this qualitative study could be interpreted as hints of an emerging alterity educational model; Classroom organization as an extension of the traditional Raramuri community meetings; and the court cases as well, an ancestral practice replicated in the middle schools to reestablish harmony in case of conflict between students.
