Abstract
The purpose of this document is to describe the development of Chemistry teaching and the circumstances that mediated during the period 1881-1995, including what was its insertion in school syllabus, its teachers and students, and especially the context in which it developed. The assessment of the role it has played in the construction of this science in the state of Chihuahua and the impact in its social environment is included. It also describes how chemistry went from being a curricular subject to becoming an important Faculty of the Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua. Through the historical method, the primary sources of both the Chihuahua City Council and the Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua Archive are analyzed, with which such interpretations and narratives are supported and demonstrated.
